Revision
Tank inspection with visual cleaning
Sillerebühl
There are two variants of tank revision: The
- Tank overhaul with internal cleaning
- Visual inspection (often also called tank inspection)
Both must be carried out every ten years and reported to the cantonal water protection office. Exempt installations and tank installations in water protection zone B are excluded from this – The owners themselves are responsible for installations that have not been overhauled.
We recommend a tank overhaul with internal cleaning because
- so that any sludge or other impurities are removed from the tank.
- clogging of filters and burner nozzles can be minimized.
- optimum combustion also protects the environment.
- any damage or corrosion in and on the tank can be detected.
- we can guarantee the operational safety of your tank system.
- you maintain the value of your property.
- This guarantees insurance cover and relieves you of personal responsibility.
A tank inspection with internal cleaning every 10 years is always worthwhile. Temperature fluctuations in the tank cause condensation, which combines with tiny particles on the bottom of the tank. This oil sludge (electrolyte) leads to deposits in the tank and in turn develops a galvanic element, which sooner or later leads to corrosion in the tank. This sludge can also develop into a fungus-like substance, which can often lead to malfunctions of the oil burner (clogging of filters or burner nozzles). During a tank inspection with internal cleaning, we remove these deposits and dispose of them in an environmentally friendly manner in accordance with legal regulations. After cleaning, we check the condition of your tank system. This also includes the safety equipment such as filling safety device, tank compartment and leak detector.
Workflow:
A visual inspection of heating oil tanks is an external, visual inspection of the tank, the supply lines and the tank compartment for condition and tightness, which is required at least every 10 years for systems requiring a permit.
We recommend a visual inspection only for tanks that will be removed or taken out of service within the next 3 years.
No liability can be accepted for any defects and the resulting damage.

New tank systems
The evaluation and planning of a new tank system requires a great deal of specialist knowledge and experience for both small and large tank systems.
Thanks to our cooperation with specialist planners and tank manufacturers, we can offer you a wide range of tanks:
- PE combi tanks: a space-saving plastic tank with drip tray
- Single tanks made of plastic, in steel or polyester drip pans
- Battery tank systems
- Steel tanks for cellars, space-welded or factory-welded
- Cylindrical steel tanks for underground installation, suitable for heating oil, diesel oil, petrol, HVO, AdBlue, water and rainwater
- Spherical tanks for underground installation
Based on your ideas, space conditions, building plans or a building inspection: We will find the right solution for every situation.

Line construction
When constructing new systems and making changes to existing tank systems, appropriate pipes must be planned and built.
The following cables are professionally planned and installed by us:
- Vent lines
- Product lines, monitored or unmonitored
- Vapor recovery lines
- Burner lines
- Water pipes – only for rainwater or gray water
On request, we can also take over the coordination between the construction management and any other tradespeople.

Decommissioning the tank
Professional decommissioning of your tank.
The decommissioning of your tank must always be carried out by a specialist. This applies to all officially approved tanks in which water-polluting liquids are stored.
The following work is carried out during decommissioning:
- Remove residual oil and sludge from the tank
- De-oiling and degassing the tank
- Clean or flush the product lines including the tank cap
- Ensure that the tank cannot be filled by mistake - "Blanking the lines"
- Deregistering the tank with the responsible authorities
- Any covering work for access to the tank
- Create dust protection walls
- Ventilation of the tank compartment
- Compliance with safety regulations
- Instruction sheet for the inspection of newly constructed storage facilities

Dismantling
Tank dismantling using the cold process
Tank disassembly
Tank disassembly
Your tank must always be dismantled by a specialist. This applies to all officially approved tanks in which water-polluting liquids are stored. The following work is carried out during disassembly:
- Ensure access to the tank and cover floors and walls if necessary
- Ventilation of the tank compartment
- Dismantling the tank into transportable parts
- Removal and professional disposal of the tank material
- Compliance with safety regulations
We dismantle tanks almost exclusively using the cold process. In special cases, we cut with acetylene and oxygen. Normally, we “gnaw” and dismantle the tanks using special machines. Big advantage: no smoke development and soot deposits. Last but not least, the execution is also less stressful for our employees.

Frequently asked questions
When Do I Have to Arrange for an Internal Cleaning?
We recommend that heating oil tanks undergo an inspection with internal cleaning every 10 years.
When was the last revision?
You will find a sticker on the door to the tank which tells you when the last work was carried out on your tank.
Do I Have to Expect Additional Costs for an Inspection in Winter?
No, we will create a temporary heating system for you (a temporary oil feed for your heating).
I Filled My Tank in Spring. How many Liters Can You Extract from the Tank without Additional Costs?
Up to a maximum of 15,000 liters. However, it is important for us that you can give us as accurate information as possible about the heating oil level. This allows us to arrange the right tank trailer for the temporary storage for you. The easiest way to do this is to measure the oil level with the measuring stick.
