Oil filtration

Man operates oil filter system outside.
Oil filtration is usually carried out in connection with a tank refurbishment, in the case of heavily contaminated heating oil during a tank overhaul or when the tank is decommissioned:

Product change

Every product change requires precise clarification:

We recommend opening and checking the tank in advance to ensure a smooth process. We will be happy to assist you with this.

Leak Detection Devices

Leak warning devices, also known as leak detection devices, monitor your tank system and alert you to any leaks.
Leakage monitoring device

We distinguish between the following monitoring types:

The space between the two tank walls is continuously monitored by means of pressure or vacuum. If a leak develops in one of the walls, the device immediately emits a visual and acoustic alarm.

Good to know:

Service agreement: We offer you a customized service agreement for the regular statutory service and maintenance of your leak detector.

Cathodic protection systems

Cathodic corrosion protection is a process that reliably prevents the formation of rust. The system makes a decisive contribution to extending the service life of your oil tank and protecting the environment.

The technology of cathodic protection

Corrosion occurs when electricity flows from metal structures such as pipes or tanks into the surrounding electrolyte, i.e. soil or water. This charge transport detaches metal particles from the surface, which leads to the destruction of the material. Cathodic corrosion protection is an electrochemical protection method that reverses this process. An electrical direct current is applied to the metal structures to be protected. This protective current causes a cathodic polarization of the metal surface, which reverses the flow direction of the current. The current now flows in the opposite direction, i.e. from the electrolyte towards the object to be protected. As no more current escapes from the metal structure, no more metal particles are released and corrosion is completely prevented.

Good to know

Trust is good, control is better: In connection with the service of the leak detector, we always recommend that you also check the cathodic protection.

Level indicators

Level indicator with sensor and display

You have the following options for keeping track of the heating oil level in your tank:

The electronic level indicators are very accurate and transmit the measurement results via e-mail or SMS if required. If you want to be informed about your heating oil level on the go, go to the oil management section.

Oil management

With an intelligent oil management system, you can keep an eye on your heating oil level at all times.

An autonomous measuring system is installed on your tank that works completely without a power or telephone connection. It measures the fill level every five hours and regularly transmits the measurement data to our server – every three days in winter and every seven days in summer.

You can call up your heating oil level in your property around the clock and evaluate the consumption data. This function is particularly useful for precise heating cost billing.

The system actively supports you when shopping and the next delivery is guaranteed not to be forgotten. You or people of your choice, e.g. janitors, receive an automatic notification or text message when your fill level reaches 30% and later 15%. You can forward this notification directly to your supplier.

Overfill Prevention Devices

Safety device for liquid filling

Filling safety devices are electro-optical probes that are connected to the truck when filling the heating oil tank. The probe emits a pulse when the tank is full. This prevents overfilling. A simple variant for the same purpose is a mechanical overfill protection device. However, it is only recommended if it is not possible to fill the tank with a tanker, e.g. in mountainous areas.

Bursting safety devices

Overpressure protection, i.e. burst protection, is required for cellar tanks. In addition to venting the tank, this special spring valve on the tank prevents the pressure in the tank from exceeding the permissible test pressure. In the event of overpressure, the heating oil tank can deform or, in the worst case, explode. The burst protection also prevents oil from escaping via the vent, which would run into the cellar or into the soil in the garden. If oil escapes via the burst protection, it collects in the drip tray and can simply be pumped out.

You can watch a video on the subject of burst protection here.

Frequently asked questions

When Do I Have to Arrange for an Internal Cleaning?

We recommend that heating oil tanks undergo an inspection with internal cleaning every 10 years.

When was the last revision?

You will find a sticker on the door to the tank which tells you when the last work was carried out on your tank.

Do I Have to Expect Additional Costs for an Inspection in Winter?

No, we will create a temporary heating system for you (a temporary oil feed for your heating).

I Filled My Tank in Spring. How many Liters Can You Extract from the Tank without Additional Costs?

Up to a maximum of 15,000 liters. However, it is important for us that you can give us as accurate information as possible about the heating oil level. This allows us to arrange the right tank trailer for the temporary storage for you. The easiest way to do this is to measure the oil level with the measuring stick.
